“I Found My 100 Year Old Mother” is the incredible true story about one woman’s traumatic search for her mother. Some of the secrets which her mother thought she would take to her grave are miraculously revealed. The main characters are Hilary and the mother that she could not have envisioned even in her wildest fantasies. Molly, the artist and free spirit who amazes and impresses everyone she meets. The book describes Hilary’s carefree childhood in Belfast and how she copes with the shock of finding out that she is adopted and being told that her mother is dead.

She describes the effect this revelation has on the rest of her life and the repercussions of adoption which society in general and social workers in particular seem to have brushed aside. An internet search leads her to the family website and grave.

She sends a letter to her mother which receives a very surprising reception. This is followed by an incredible twist of fate which results in Hilary having lunch within a few yards of her long lost mother. At the Crowne Plaza Hotel she can hardly believe her eyes as she watches her fabulous fun - loving mother celebrating her hundredth birthday. Tears fall as she watches the celebration and hears her mother singing Danny Boy.Hilary’s determination to find her and refusal to give up even in the face of rejection prevents Molly from brushing her aside permanently.Against all the odds, they finally meet.

She is amazed to find that she has a remarkable, thoroughly modern mother who reads “Hello” magazine and risqué novels. They celebrate her hundred and third birthday together with her grandson and three lovely great grandsons and Ivelina their vivacious mum. Finally the mother and child bond proves to be stronger than the animosity surrounding them.
